BEST OF WADI RUM TREKKING
Day 1: JEBEL BURDAH CLIMB
Our representative meets you at the Wadi Rum Visitor’s Center and assists in your transfer to Rum Village, where you will meet one of our professional trekking guides. With your guide, drive south into the Protected Area to Jebel Burdah. In this exciting route, you will ascend approximately 300 meters to Burdah Rock Bridge – a natural sandstone land form high in the mountains which affords incredible desert views. This is a relatively easy climb, requiring assistance by rope just prior to arrival at the bridge. The trip up and back takes from 4 – 5 hours. Upon descent, your guide will find a nice spot to enjoy lunch and a rest before heading to our fixed camp for the night.
Day 2: JEBEL KHASCH HIKE
After a traditional breakfast, drive south with your guide through the largely deserted southern valleys of the Protected Area’s Wilderness Zone to Jebel Khasch, a high ridge stretching east to west for several kilometers. Walk along the top of the ridge for three to four hours, admiring the views of Wadi Rum to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south. This is a magnificent and popular walk, along a safe, clearly marked route. Descend from the ridge and your guide will find a comfortable spot for a late lunch before heading back to our fixed camp for a final night in the desert.
Day 3: JEBEL UM ADAAMI SUMMIT
Eat an early breakfast and drive south through the desert to Jebel Um Adaami, Jordan’s highest peak, situated at 1832 m above sea level. A magnificent drive, through far-flung valleys of Wadi Rum and crossing the beautiful and lonely Wadi Saabit, just getting there takes an hour – a small journey in and of itself! The ascent of Um Adaami usually takes about 2 1/2 hours, with the descent taking a little less time. The path to the summit is clearly marked and needs no rope. You are rewarded at the summit by panoramic views over Saudi Arabia to the south and Wadi Rum to the north. After descending Um Adaami, stop for lunch and a rest. On the way back, stop to visit one or two of the tiny valleys branching off Wadi Saabit. Your tour ends in Wadi Rum Village in the late afternoon.
